Pick by what you are using it for. Both come with free delivery to any UK postcode.

What is borax?

Borax is a naturally occurring boron mineral. Refined and milled, it becomes the fine white powder used for over a century as a metalworking flux, a glaze ingredient and a laboratory buffer. Dissolved in water it gives a mild alkaline solution of around pH 9.2.

Ours is the genuine mineral, not the sesquicarbonate blends sold as “borax” on some supermarket shelves.

Where can I buy borax in the UK?

Here, online. We sell 99.9% pure borax powder for professional, trade and laboratory use, and a borax substitute for household use. Both are delivered free to any UK postcode.

Is borax banned in the UK?

Not entirely. Borax is classified as toxic for reproduction, so it cannot be sold to the general public as a household product. It can still be supplied as a technical raw material for professional, industrial and laboratory use.

How much does borax powder cost?

Pure borax powder costs £17.99 for 900g (2 lb) and £31.99 for 3kg (6.6 lb), with free UK delivery. Borax substitute starts from the same price.

Is borax substitute the same as borax?

No. Borax is sodium tetraborate, a boron compound. Borax substitute is a blend of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate that does similar laundry and cleaning jobs and is on open sale.

Is there borax near me?

High-street stockists of pure borax are rare. Ordering online is usually the quickest way to get it: we deliver free across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in 3–7 working days.

Can I use borax for slime?

We do not sell pure borax for slime, toys or any household use. For craft projects choose a product sold specifically for that purpose and follow its instructions.

How long does delivery take?

Orders ship from the EU and usually arrive within 3–7 working days. Delivery is free, and you receive tracking by email once your parcel is on its way.

Can I return my order?

Yes, within 14 days of delivery if the product is unopened and in its original sealed packaging. The buyer pays the return postage. Contact us first for the return address.

Safety first

Pure borax is classified Repr. 1B (H360FD: may damage fertility or the unborn child) and is sold for professional, industrial and laboratory use only. It is not for consumption. Keep all products out of reach of children, wear gloves and eye protection when handling powder, read the Safety Data Sheet and use as directed.
